Filming at San Martino Yonkers Restaurant for Starz Series “Raising Kanan,” About 50 Cent

Yonkers City Councilman Anthony Merante recently paid a visit to San Martino Ristorante in Yonkers to watch filming of the Starz Series “Raising Kanan.” The series is loosely based on the early life of rapper 50 Cent, who is also the executive producer of the series.

San Martino Ristorante has been in business for 48 years and is located at 12 Young Avenue in Yonkers. Al LoParo owner of the San Martino Ristorante was thrilled to have the production filming at his restaurant, and added that it was the first time a TV or Movie crew had filmed there. Al also enjoyed meeting actor Tony Danze, one of the stars of the series, who is better known for his work in “Taxi” and “Who’s the Boss.”

Councilman Merante, who represents the 6th District, where San Martino is located, said “I stopped by the set filming on Wednesday to welcome the production to the 6th District and met with “Raising Kanan” episode director Dylan Brown and writer Naja Rayne. The show is about the early life and trials of rapper 50 Cent, who’s the executive producer of the show. The restaurant will reopen Thursday, and the final episode of Season 3 of “Raising Kanan” airs on Starz this Friday.
