Westchester Congressman Mike Lawler
On December 13, Congressman Lawler released the following statement after the House passed a measure to move forward with an impeachment inquiry.
“For the past eleven months, the House Oversight, Judiciary, and Ways and Means Committees have been conducting multiple investigations into the financial dealings of the Biden Family. These committees have uncovered foreign transactions totaling over $24 million passing through at least 20 shell companies to the Biden family — including payments to Joe Biden — and its business associates from Chinese, Russian, Romanian, and Ukrainian businesses and oligarchs,” said Congressman Lawler. “In addition, there were over 170 suspicious activity reports filed by banks and financial institutions questioning the legitimacy of these payments.”
“Is it enough to impeach the president today? No. Not for me,” stated Congressman Lawler. “However, the White House’s refusal to turn over additional information, including their failure to comply with subpoenas, is deeply concerning and has necessitated a more formal approach to get the whole truth.”
“That is why, I have decided to support this impeachment inquiry and voted to authorize it moving forward. We will follow the facts and evidence wherever they may lead,” concluded Congressman Lawler. “To my constituents, I promise to approach this inquiry with the seriousness it demands, keeping in mind the core American value that someone is always innocent until proven guilty – and you will always have my word that I’ll put what’s right for our country before what’s right for my party.”
