One Recent poll has Governor Kathy Hochul’s approval rating at an all-time low of 33%. Another poll has President Joe Biden ahead in New York state by only 9 points. The reasons for both democrats’ low numbers in deep blue New York State? The migrant crisis, inflation, and crime are three real issues on the minds of voters, but the question is, will this anger at Hochul and Biden translate into republican wins in deep-blue Westchester County?

One republican stronghold in Westchester is in the Town of Eastchester, where Supervisor Tony Colavita has served for 20 years. Our newspaper has supported Colavita in every one of his elections, but more importantly, the voters keep reelecting Supervisor Colavita.

Why? The reason for that is simple. Eastchester Town government has worked under Colavita’s leadership. The residents of the Town demand that their tax dollars are watched and not wasted, but also that services in the town are kept to the highest standards.

The Town of Eastchester has consistently been cited as one of the best places to live, in part because of the balance that Colavita and the Town Board have been able to find between controlling property taxes and delivering town services.

Running with Colavita this year is Town Board member Sheila Marcotte for reelection, and Anthony Giacobbe, running for Town Board for the first time.

Marcotte has served the Town well, as a County Legislator for 6 years, and as a Town Board member seeking her second term. In her service both on the county board and town board, Marcotte has been a fiscal conservative always watching out for taxpayer dollars.

Anthony Giacobbe ran for County Board two years ago, for Marcotte’s old seat, and narrowly lost to democrat Damon Maher. Giacobbe knocked on thousands of doors during that campaign, and his enthusiasm and willingness to help and serve the people of Eastchester is contagious.

Colavita, Marcotte and Giacobbe are three public servants that the Town of Eastchester can be proud of-we endorse their election.

The Village of Tuckahoe is part of the Town of Eastchester, and Tuckahoe residents will vote for Eastchester Supervisor and Town Board, but also for Tuckahoe Mayor and and two Trustees. Republican Scooter Scott is running for Mayor against democrat Mayor Omayra Andino. Republicans Danny Lang and Claudia DeMaio-Francis are running for Tuckahoe Village Trustee, against democrats and Village Trustees Darryl Taylor, and Joshua Gaccione.

We Endorse Scott for Mayor and Lang and DeMaio-Francis for Trustee. We like their ideas about moving Tuckahoe forward.

The results in Tuckahoe could serve as a bell weather for the county.
