Yonkers Resident to Be Honored by Maria Regina High School

Paul Thomas, distinguished alumnae parent and member of the Board of Trustees, will be honored at Maria Regina High School’s Golf Classic and Dinner Reception to be held Tuesday, October 24 at Leewood Golf Club, Eastchester, New York.

Members of Maria Regina’s Family—parents, alumnae, faculty and administration, board of trustees, community partners and friends—will be on hand to celebrate Thomas for his long-standing commitment, dedication and generosity too the renowned all girls Catholic high school and his lifetime of service to Catholic education.

Thomas’ support of Maria Regina began in earnest as a result his two daughters enrolling as students, starting with Erin (Class of ’14) and continuing with Cady (Class of ’17).  “Needless to say, he was a very proud and involved dad during his daughters’ years as students,” said Maria Carozza-McCaffrey (Class of ’99), Principal, adding: “Paul was a fixture in the halls of Maria Regina and in the stands cheering on his daughters and their fellow Tigers.  Now it’s our turn to cheer him.”

In 2018, Thomas became a member of Maria Regina’s Board of Trustees. Currently, he is chair of the school’s Advancement Committee.

Elizabeth O’Keeffe Cleary, Director of Advancement, noted: “Paul is very deserving of this honor. His guidance and generosity of his time, talents and treasures–all incalculable–are a gift to Maria Regina for which all of us are deeply grateful.”

Thomas’ Catholic education started at St. Anthony’s Elementary and continued at Stepinac High School (Class of ’80) and Manhattan College where he obtained a B.S. in Business Marketing. His acclaimed career spans 40 years. For his alma mater, Stepinac, he has served as Senior Director of Advancement, instrumental in cultivating, engaging and stewarding countless alumni, individuals and corporations.

Most recently, he was Chair of Stepinac’s 75th Anniversary Gala, responsible for all aspects of the event and successfully raising critical funds for the school’s $17 million Capital Campaign. Prior to joining Stepinac, Thomas served Mount St. Michael Academy in the Bronx for 19 years where he taught math, coached freshmen basketball and freshmen football and started his career in Advancement.

He was inducted into the CHSAA Hall of Fame in 2019. Thomas also has been the publisher and editor of the CHSAA basketball playoff journal, as well as an umpire and administrator for the Catholic league.

As an outstanding student athlete, Thomas ran cross-country and played rugby and basketball at Stepinac. And he coached his team to win three CHSAA “A” Division titles in basketball.

Thomas is also an active member of several civic and community-based programs and charities including the AOH, The Friendly Son’s of St. Patrick and The Sprain Lake Knowles Civic Association. And he has been a long-standing lector at St. Eugene’s Parish.

Thomas and his wife Bobbie Lee live in Yonkers. Their third child, Devin, is also a Stepinac graduate (Class of 2012).

Commenting on his being honored by Maria Regina, Thomas said: “I am both humbled and very proud, as is my family, to be recognized by the Maria Regina family which holds a very special place in my heart for shaping the lives of so many young women including my daughters through the blessings of a superb Catholic education. I will long cherish and continue to fulfill the promise of this honor.”
