Chuck Lesnick

Former Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick has announced his desire to serve out the remainder of the term of former County Legislator Christopher Johnson in the 16th District in Yonkers. Johnson resigned last month, leaving an empty seat in the BOL chambers for the remainder of the year unless the Board decides to fill the vacancy
City Councilmember Shanae Williams and Debbie Kozak will both be on the ballot in November. But until then, Lesnick has asked to be considered to fill the remaining months of Johnson’s term. “I have lived in the district for 35 years. During the upcoming budget process, Yonkers should have an advocate, sharing ideas and presenting the views of the district.”
“I can serve as a caretaker of this seat until someone is elected and is sworn in on Jan. 1. I have the knowledge and experience to hit the ground running and serve the people of Yonkers in White Plains,” said Lesnick, who has several ideas that he wants to bring before the County Board, including public financing of elections and collaborative tax assessment.
Currently, no decidson has been made whether to fill the seat or leave it vacant. Yonkers has three other legislators on the County Board; Legislator and Majority Leader Jose Alvarado, Legislator James Nolan, and Legislator David Tubiolo, who is currently completing basic training for the Army Reserves.
Lesnick served as Yonkers City Council President from 2006-2013.
