The City of Yonkers commemorated the 17th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 with ceremonies at the Yonkers waterfront memorial and at Conor Park. Twenty-six Yonkers residents were lost on that day, and their names are on the plaque which is pictured in this paper.

At the 9/11 memorial on the banks of the Hudson River at Water Grant Street, a morning service and tribute was held, which included remarks by Mayor Mike Spano, and other elected officials.

The evening ceremony at Conor Park was where the city dedicated a monument derived
from a 38-foot, 4,000-pound piece of World Trade Center steel.Yonkers firefighters and
police officers attended both events to remember their members lost 17 years ago, and were joined by family members of the victims of the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center.
