A.G. Williams Painting Honored for Service

A.G. Williams Painting Company in Pelham recently announced that its president and CEO, George Williams, was honored with the 2017 Trinity Award by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of New Rochelle for his long-term commitment to the church and community, at its 89th annual anniversary gala.

The event, held annually with more than 300 attendees, honors individuals who provide exceptional support, service, and commitment to the church and its community with the Trinity Award. Williams, who served as president, vice president and trustee on the church’s Board of Directors, was recognized both for his personal and A.G. Williams’ dedication to the church for more than three generations.

“I am so honored to be the recipient of this year’s Trinity Award,” he said in his acceptance speech. “This has been a lifetime journey and I am proud to be a part of the strong and dedicated community that is Holy Trinity.”

Fr. Nicholas Anctil, presiding priest at Holy Trinity, thanked Williams for his dedication and leadership in the church, as well as the hard work ethic and assistance the A.G. Williams family has provided to the church over the years.

“George and the A.G. Williams family have offered over four generations of outstanding service to the church, and have handled any task with exceptional diligence and detail,” he said. “Each year, every member of the Holy Trinity Council votes to inaugurate one honoree. This year, the council’s votes were unanimous.”

In his acceptance speech, Williams spoke of the traditional values that are instilled in the W.G Williams employees – honesty, integrity and professionalism. Williams attributes these values to his parents, who helped shape his work ethic and dedication to the church.

“My father, who was a hard worker throughout his entire life, taught me a strong work ethic, while my mother taught me the difference between right and wrong,” said Williams. “These values are what we try to instill in our A.G. Williams employees today. We promote a culture of hard work, honesty, and doing the right thing, especially when nobody is looking.”

Williams also credits his brother and co-president, Arthur Williams, as being the anchor of the company that helps keep him grounded and focused. They both complement each other’s skills and make for an effective working team that has helped the company profitably grow.

In addition to serving as an active member of the Holy Trinity Church for more than 30 years, Williams has served the community as a trustee on the Board of Directors for the Sherman Park Little League in Thornwood from 1996 to 2004, and has been a member of the Executive Association of Westchester since 1988.

In the last 11 years, A.G. Williams has donated more than $1 million worth of cash and services to charities throughout Westchester and Fairfield counties. In addition, the company has supported the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, Rye YMCA, Her Haven, the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, Friends of the Scarsdale Library, Greenwich Music and Art Camp, Support Connection, and the Weill Cornell Children’s Brain Tumor Project, just to name a few.

Williams lives in Thornwood with his wife, Theresa, and their two sons, George and Nicholas, who also work at A.G. Williams Painting Company.
