Bird Scooters Celebrates One Year Anniversary in Yonkers: Police Remind Users of Rules

Bird Scooters is celebrating one year of providing a quick, inexpensive ride for the people of Yonkers. The cost for a Bird ride is $1 to start and 30 cents per minute. Bird also offers low-income access plans that include unlimited 30-minute rides for $5 per month for anyone enrolled in or eligible for a state or federal assistance program.

The scooters have been sucessful in Yonkers for young adults and students who don’t have the financial means to get around the city. The scooterrs are also a good way for the parents to keep a measure on them, if the parents rent out with the App on their phone, they can track where they are going.

The Yonkers Police Department would like to remind users of e-bikes and e-scooters that riding on sidewalks is not allowed and violators are subject to a traffic summons. As these personal transportation devices have become more popular, please be respectful of pedestrians and vehicular traffic and ride in designated lanes or streets in the direction of traffic and follow all rules of the road.
