$50,000 Reward for Info on Who Robbed Waccabuc Post Office

The hamlet of Waccabuc has been called Westchester’s “Secret Suburb” because of its small population (under 1,000), and the uber-wealthy residents who want to be left alone, (Sean Combs, Bryant Gumbel, Gwyneth Paltrow, Keith Richards, Ogden Reid and Stanley O’Neal former CEO of Merrill Lynch.

In 1956 Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller were married at the Waccabuc home of Miller’s literary agent Kay Brown. Located in the Town of Lewisboro, in Northern Westchester, the Waccabuc Country Club, who’s original members included Henry Wallace, former Vice President of the United States, is one of the few locations where, if invited, those from outside the Hamlet can enjoy.

Even more quaint is the Waccabuc Post Office, which delivers the mail for the 500 or so homowners. It came as a surprise to many Westchester residents when the United States Postal Inspection Service posted a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects who robbed the Waccabuc post office on Jan. 10 at 430 pm.

The Lewisboro Police Department reported that they responded on 1/10 to the Waccabuc Post Office, located at 2 Post Office Road, on reports of an armed robbery. While there were no injuries, the incident had Post Office employees and residents, in disbelief.

“The Postal Inspection Service police force has global jurisdiction when it comes to the security of postal workers, high-value U.S. Post Offices, facilities and postal vehicles, according to the agency’s mandate. Up to $50,000 is available to the person who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects who robbed a post office in Waccabuc. The incident occurred on Jan. 10. around 4:30 p.m. Witnesses say two suspects had silver guns and ran off with cash. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 1-877-876-2455 and reference Case No. 3948135-ROBB. All information will be kept strictly confidential,” writes the US Postal Inspection Service.
