Bar Foundation Honors Newman & Scheinkman

RYE, NY — Charles Newman and the Hon. Alan Scheinkman were honored recently by the Westchester County Bar Foundation at its annual benefit in Rye, at the Coveleigh Club. As administrative judge for New York’s Ninth Judicial District, Scheinkman has jurisdiction over most of the lower Hudson Valley. Newman (who goes by “Chuck”), a longtime prominent supporter of the foundation, is principal of Charles J. Newman Co., LLC, an insurance agency based in Peekskill.

The benefit and silent auction, now in its seventh year, help raise funds that pay the salary of a new lawyer’s pro bono services at a local non-profit agency serving the under-privileged.

Anthony Enea, president of Westchester County Bar Foundation and partner in the White Plains law firm Enea, Scanlan and Sirignano, LLP, said the event was a notable success in generating the monies needed for the two-year fellowship, whose recipient is Luis Leon. A graduate of the Elizabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in White Plains, Leon has started his tenure at the Westchester Hispanic Coalition. He is the sixth beneficiary of the award, which “is made possible due to the generosity of Westchester’s legal community and its supporters,” said Enea.
