Yorktown High School Principal Joseph DeGennaro has announced his plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2026–27 school year. Last night, Mr. DeGennaro shared the following message with the YHS community:
After 39 years, I plan to retire at the conclusion of the 2026-27 school year. I have truly been honored and blessed to serve students and families at Cardinal Hayes High School, Hastings High School, Irvington High School, and the last 19 years as principal of Yorktown High School. At each school and community, I have met with so many wonderful families and students, who have inspired me daily.
I have so much appreciation, admiration, and respect for every faculty/staff member and administrative colleague I have worked with and worked for.
I am forever grateful to my wife, Jill, and three adult children, Dana, Nick, and Charlie, for their incredible support during this journey.
I look forward to this upcoming year and providing the best experience for our entire learning community, especially our students.
