The Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront Business Improvement District is thrilled to announce the return of the Yonkers Waterfront Live Concert Series, an annual summer tradition that brings people from all over the tri-state area with great music and stunning riverfront views. This year, the concert series will be held on Friday nights from June 14 through August 16, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Waterfront Amphitheatre, next to the Yonkers Pier, located at 71 Water Grant Street, Yonkers, NY.
This much-loved series boasts a diverse lineup of musical talents, ensuring there’s something for everyone’s taste. The concert series kicks off with the soulful Reggae Soul & Pop Infusion of Leon & The Peoples. Leon, a multi-talented performer, is known for his acting, singing, and songwriting. He has appeared in over 35 movies, including Cool Runnings and Waiting to Exhale, and on TV in HBO’s OZ and currently on CBS’ Blue Bloods. Another highlight is the performance by Maiya Sykes, a classically trained vocalist, producer, and vocal arranger from NBC’s “The Voice”. Her vocals have graced many films, including the Oscar-winning La La Land, the critically acclaimed Dolomite is My Name, the Netflix series Waffles and Mochi, and Creed 3. Recently, she was featured in the documentary Billy Idol: State Line. Kicking off the month of August is Spanglish Fly, a band celebrated for reviving 1960s Latin boogaloo in NYC, features two female vocalists singing in English and Spanish over a lively mix of Latin percussion, horns, piano, and bass. With members hailing from Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Japan, Argentina, Colombia, and Upper Manhattan, they bring a rich multicultural vibe to their quintessential urban US music. Since bursting onto the scene in 2010, they’ve dazzled audiences at iconic venues like the Apollo and Lincoln Center and received high praise for their 2018 album, Ay Que Boogaloo!, which creatively fuses various genres and features notable Latin music artists.
The concerts are free to the public and showcase a variety of music genres, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
