Yonkers Swimmer Medals at State Swimming and Diving Championships

One of Yonkers High School’s greatest swimmers had another amazing achievement on Friday, November 18th. Maichina Gennarelli, pictured above, represented Yonkers Varsity Swim Team at the 2022 NYS Swimming and Diving State Championships in Rochester, NY.

This was her second year qualifying for State Championships in the 500 yard freestyle. Gennarelli placed 14th in the event with a time of 5:11.78.  Maichina is a junior at Yonkers High School and currently holds 8 of 12 team records for the girls varsity program.

Last year, Maichina made history for Yonkers as she was the first female to qualify for Swimming State Championships, which were held in Ithaca, NY.
