Yonkers Street Renamed for Christopher “Tiny” Milano

This week, the City renamed Murray Avenue to Christopher “Tiny” Milano Way in memory of a dedicated and generous resident of the neighborhood. Mr. Milano lived to serve others.The City of Yonkers thanks him and his family for their contributions.


On April 8, 2020, Milano passed away from COVID. He loved his wife Mary of 61 years, who was on hand for the street renaming, along with many other family members and City officials, including Mayor Mike Spano, State Senator Shelley Mayer, City Council Minority Leader Mike Breen, and Councilman John Rubbo and Anthony Merante, Councilmember Shanae Williams and State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins.


Tiny was a veteran of the Korean War. He spent 5 years doing all he could for veterans and encouraged all to help and support them. He was very involved with the senior community centers. He was always organizing many enjoyable day and multi-day trips for all members. He was a retired corrections officer and a member of the Columbus Day Committee.
