We can’t wait to welcome you back—both for this special day and all season long during our weekend public hours. Bring the family and spread the word!
The Science Barge is a floating urban farm and environmental education center that has been docked in downtown Yonkers since late 2008. Each year, it produces an abundance of fresh tomatoes, basil, peppers, beans, and lettuce. The harvest is donated and shared with the community. The Barge runs entirely on energy from solar panels and wind turbines, while its hydroponic greenhouse is irrigated with collected and purified water, allowing it to operate completely self-sufficiently.
The Science Barge is located on 99 Dock St., Yonkers, NY 10701 (next to the Yonkers Metro-North Station) and is open from June to October. On weekends, visitors can explore for free from 12 PM to 5 PM, with the last tour starting at 4:45 PM. During the week, we welcome school and community groups for educational programs. Check our Events Calendar for special activities throughout the season!
