Yonkers Rotary Speech Contest for 14-18 Year Olds

Deadline to Register March 11, must live in Yonkers

The Rotary Club of Yonkers is sponsoring a Speech Contest for youth (14 – 18 years old) who live in Yonkers.

Please share this information with youth (14-18 years old) and those in your organization who come into contact with youth (14-18 years old).

The contest provides a way for youth to develop critical thinking, ethical decision making, and public speaking skills. 
Participants are asked to present a five-minute speech on the topic…”What you would like to see improved in Yonkers and why.” Youth interested in participating in the contest may register for free either:

The deadline for registering for the contest is March 11, 2022. A preliminary round of speeches will be held on March 28, 29, and 30, 2022 at 5 pm at the Yonkers Riverfront Library. The preliminary round will be held via Zoom if circumstances so require. Three finalists will be selected to advance to the final round. The final round will be held at the Club’s meeting at 6:15 p.m. on April 27, 2022. 


All participants will receive a certificate.Each of the three finalists will receive a plaque and a cash prize: $500 for first place; $300 for second place; and, $200 for third place. Questions may be sent to Contest Coordinator and Rotarian Alan Gray at alangrayjr@gmail.com
