Yonkers Resident for 70 Years Elena Cefola, Happy 100th Birthday!

On Feb. 4, the Yonkers Police Department helped celebrate the 100th Birthday of Elena Cefola, by driving a motorcade of Police and Fire vehicles by her home.

Elena has been a proud Yonker’s resident for nearly 70 years and spent most of her life as a highly skilled seamstress. Later on , she turn that talent into her own seamstress business- doing what she loved, on her own terms.

We credit her long and healthy life to simple, steady choices: fresh, healthy food, no smoking, no drinking- and a whole lot of love. She is loved by everyone she meets, and deeply cherished, by her family and friends.

When she knows her family is coming to visit she immediately goes into cleaning and cooking mode- making sure the house is spotless and that there is more than enough food for everyone. Taking care of others has always been her way.

In one of her family surprises, it took her ninety years to try Chinese food and sushi, and she discovered that she can’t get enough of either.

Happy 100th birthday to a remarkable woman whose life has been stitched together with hard work, generosity, love and joy.

About a dozen members of Yonkers Finest stopped to personally greet her and sing Happy Birthday to her.
