Yonkers Public Library will launch its “Grow, Harvest, & Feast” program series on Sat., Feb. 17, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverfront Library in celebration of Black History Month. The kick-off party invites residents to learn about the library’s seed library, watch a cooking demonstration with Chef B, sample local cuisine from Black and Afro-Caribbean chefs, and enjoy an interactive dance performance with James Norton from Youth Theatre Interactions.
The “Grow, Harvest, & Feast” is a year-long series of events celebrating the city’s diverse cultures through food, recipes, oral history, and community gardening. In partnership with ConEdison, Groundwork Hudson Valley, and Sarah Lawrence College, Riverfront Library has created a pop-up indoor gardening center featuring a new hydroponic garden, the seed library, and a curated collection of gardening, cooking and ecology books on display through 2024.
