Yonkers Police & FBI Execute Federal Arrest Warrant at Roberts Avenue

This home at 326 Roberts Avenue was the location of an early morning arrest by the YPD and FBI.

In the early morning hourse of June 30, members of the Yonkers Police Department Gang Unit and Major Case Squad along with the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force and the Westchester County Police executed a federal arrest warrant at a home at 326 Roberts Avenue.

At 5am, Roberts Avenue, at the corner of Valley Avenue, was closed off to the public. Some residents said that they heard a bomb like explosion, perhaps the YPD and FBI busting down a door to apprehend their target. “Around 5 a.m. I heard a bomb-like noise coming from the backyard. There was two of them. Sounded like a big explosion. I thought lightning hit my door, but then I looked out and saw it wasn’t raining. And then I heard it again, so I got really nervous,” says Tatiana Terlecky, of Yonkers.

After the raid, the FBI confirmed that one person was in custody. The investigation is ongoing at this time and more information will be released as it becomes available.

Due to the nature of the operation, a large number of officers were on scene to ensure the safety of all involved, including the residents in the area. There is no current threat to the public. The roadway was temporarily closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic but has since been reopened.

“For the FBI, Yonkers Police and their Gang Unit, and the Westchester County Police to arrest this individual, it had to be a major player in the gangs, or recent shooting, or a drug dealer. It shows that they wanted him off the streets,” said one Yonkers friend of law enforcement.

The private home is located in a neighborhood of private homes and 1/2 mile away from any shops or businesses. It was described by one neighbor as “one of the most quiet, bedroom communities in Yonkers.”

Because a Federal arrest warrant was executed, the individual now in custody will be charged with Federal crimes coming from the US Attorney’s office.
