Last week, The City of Yonkers smoke shop task force conducted an inspection at 15 Palisade Avenue and discovered numerous violations and unlawful substances stored in a hidden room which were being sold to the public, including unlicensed and or illegal THC edibles, vaping products, cannabis and cannabis oils, and more. Police confiscated the offending products and issued citations to the business.
When the New York State Legislature decriminalized cannabis, they did so without providing any structural support to local municipalities who are now dealing with the consequent quality-of-life issues. This is not about going after local businesses – the City and #YonkersPD support and respect our business community. It is about going after entities that peddle in unlawful substances, potentially dealing with minors, and generate complaints in our neighborhoods.
