Yonkers Police Arrest, Charge Yonkers Public School Teacher

The Yonkers Police Department, Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, and Yonkers Public Schools are investigating alleged criminal behavior by a Yonkers Public School teacher.

It is alleged by a student that William ARCHACKI (50), a teacher at Yonkers Public School #21, had caused a student to fear for their safety by walking up behind this student while holding a paring knife during school hours on February 8th, 2023.  

ARCHACKI is a resident of Buchanan, NY, and was a 5th Grade teacher at Public School #21, located on Lee Avenue in this City, at the time of this incident. He was placed on modified duty the day after the incident, pending the outcome of this investigation. Yonkers Police Detectives arrested ARCHACKI on April 13th, 2023, and he was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, an A-Misdemeanor. He was later arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court and released on his own recognizance, awaiting future court appearances. 

This case is being prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. Additional information may be released as it becomes available; however, no information will be released as to the identities of students or other minors involved in the incident.
