On Sunday afternoon Nov 9th from 1 to 4 pm. Aerosmith founding member Ray Tabano will host his annual fundraiser for Disabled Veterans at Pete’s Saloon in Elmsford. Tabano will lead an All Star Band along with “Elvis “ impersonator extraordinaire Pat Perone performing his greatest hits. Once again the Rolling Thunder representative Ed O’Neill will have the MIA Display as a reminder of the service our Vets have done for our beloved Country Great food, raffles and of course our wonderful DAV Veterans will be there, it’s a great way to spend the day and help support our Veterans. Come on by and by part of the celebration of Veterans Day Weekend. And God Bless America!
Tabano doesn’t want our story, or this event to be about him and his legendary history with Aerosmith, but we like to highlight it as a way to get our readers to the fundraiser.
Aerosmith may be forever known as “The Bad Boys from Boston,” but the band’s origin story starts right here in Yonkers—a gritty, working-class city that gave rock two of its biggest legends and the spark that lit the fuse.
The Yonkers Boys Who Started It All: Steven Tyler (born in 1948 and raised in Yonkers) grew up at 100 Pembroke Drive in northeast Yonkers. Attended Roosevelt High School. His dad Vic ran a classical-music school; Steven was banging on drums by age 8.
Ray Tabano (born in 1946, Bronx; raised Yonkers). Tyler’s tree-climbing, foul-mouthed childhood best friend. Nicknamed “Crazy Raymond.” Founding rhythm guitarist of Aerosmith (1970–71). Drummer Joey Kramer was also Yonkers-born and raised.
