Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson welcomed Mayor Spano to the Crestwood Program Center to
announce the partnership to revitalize the building.

On Monday, December 8, 2025, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson (GSHH) staff, volunteers, and Girl Scouts welcomed Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano to the Crestwood Girl Scout Program Center at 360 Parkview Avenue in Yonkers to announce a new funding partnership. Mayor Spano revealed to the crowd of approximately 50 Girl Scouts and caregivers that the City of Yonkers is designating $150,000 for GSHH to revitalize the building for current and future generations of Girl Scouts.

Along with Mayor Spano, in attendance were GSHH CEO Dr. Kari L. Rockwell, COO Hada Reed, other members of GSHH staff, volunteers from the Yonkers Service Unit including Service Unit Manger April Stiller and Troop Leader Clara Barragan, and many Girl Scouts and their caregivers.

Mayor Spano said of the partnership, “…there was a discussion about how we could raise some
money so that we kind of rebuild this place right? And do so in a way that provides for a more
nurturing environment for each and every one of you.”

He also praised the Yonkers Girl Scout community and leaders Clara Barragan and April Stiller for their commitment to the organization and for creating a “community (that) goes above and beyond for themselves.”

GSHH will use the funds to provide critical updates to the building, including upgrades/repairs to the heating and electrical systems, and renovating the kitchen. These, including other upgrades will make the program center better equipped to support volunteer and GSHH-led Girl Scout programming. Work on the center will begin shortly to have it up and running as soon as possible for more Girl Scout programs and activities.
