Yonkers Man Shot in Mt. Vernon Feb. 22

At approximately 9:10 AM, Mount Vernon Police were dispatched to the area of 21 North Bond Street for a report of a man that had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, later identified as
Michael Kinlaw, 52, of Yonkers, shot in the upper back.


Kinlaw was transported by ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition. Mount Vernon Police Detectives are handling the investigation with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.


A Mount Vernon Police officer was injured in a motor vehicle accident while responding to the initial call. The officer was attempting to maneuver through traffic when a vehicle pulled out in front of him. The officer swerved to avoid hitting this other vehicle and struck a tree. The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from an area hospital.
