Pretty Girl and Champ
On Nov. 20, SPCA Westchester announced today that their Humane Law Enforcement Unit (HLE), under the direction of Ernest Lungaro and with the assistance of Yonkers Police Officers Fagan and Sousa, arrested and charged Roger Andrews of Yonkers, NY with two counts of animal cruelty.
The SPCA’s HLE Director arrested Andrew Rogers on November 18th after obtaining video that captured him severely beating a helpless male puppy named Champ and a female dog named Pretty Girl. The video, which is extremely disturbing, shows Champ being whipped mercilessly with a thick rope leash and screaming. Other footage obtained of Roger Andrews shows him kicking, punching and throwing Champ and Pretty Girl.
Neither dog is owned by Roger Andrews, who had them in his possession temporarily to walk them for their owners. “By some miracle, Champ and Pretty Girl did not sustain any serious injuries,” says Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are so thankful that these innocent animals were seized by our HLE Unit before it was too late.”
Rogers was held overnight for an open warrant on an unrelated case and arraigned yesterday. If you witness or suspect an animal is being neglected or abused, please call the SPCA’s Confidential Cruelty Hotline at (914) 941-7797.
