Yonkers Girls Varsity Swim Team Making Waves Once Again

Extends Undefeated Streak to 2-0

The 2025 Yonkers Girls Varsity Swim Team is making waves once again, kicking off the season with a strong 2-0 record and extending their undefeated streak from last year.

The team opened their season at home on September 12th with a dominant 89-55 win over Port Chester High School. They followed it up with a 49-39 victory on the road against Brewster High School, proving their depth and determination.

Several athletes delivered standout performances in the win over Port Chester:

  • Junior Sara Bowden (YMA) led the charge with an impressive meet, claiming first place in the 200 Individual Medley, 100 Breaststroke, and as part of both the Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays.
  • Senior Captain Monica George (YMA) also had a flawless day in the pool, anchoring the same two relays with Bowden and adding individual wins in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly.
  • Junior Olivia Quinn (LHS) powered through the distance events, capturing wins in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle, contributing to the 200 Free Relay win and placing second in the 400 Free Relay.
  • Senior Captain Eva Stern (YHS) took second in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle and helped lead the Medley Relay to victory.
  • Senior Captain Caroline Lopez (LHS) sprinted to a win in the 100 Freestyle and added a third-place finish in the 100 Backstroke.
  • Freshman Lindsey Andrade Marroquin made a strong varsity debut, placing second in both the 200 I.M. and 100 Breaststroke, showing great promise for the future of the program.

The Yonkers squad will look to maintain their perfect record as they head on the road to face a tough opponent in Lakeland on September 25th. With strong leadership, rising stars, and an undefeated legacy to uphold, the team is poised for another standout season.
