The Yonkers Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee’s 26th annual Women of Excellence Luncheon was held March 27 at the Fairways at Dunwoodie. Hundreds gathered to congratulate this year’s distinguished winners for 2018, including: Siobhan O’Sullivan ad Patricia Brady, co-owners of Francey Brady’s Restaurant, who received the Entrepreneurial Award; Ursula McIntyre, executive administrative assistant and director of Mutuels at Empire City Casino, who received the Above and Beyond Award; Donna McGregor, executive vice president and COO at St. John’s Riverside Hospital, who received the Business Professional Award; and Donna Davis, community advocate and esteemed photographer, who received the Thomas J. Caramadre Jr. Humanitarian Award.

These most worthy recipients have all made important contributions that have enriched the business and humanitarian life in the City of Yonkers. The impressive list of their successful efforts was a highlight of this luncheon. The committee once again welcomed Janine Rose, WVOX Radio show host and Fios 1 anchor and past honoree as its mistress of ceremonies.

In addition to the honorees, three outstanding high school seniors were recognized for their accomplishments with a $1,000 scholarship in memory of Virginia Eyler, a former committee member and good friend of the Chamber. This year the Chamber awarded Krystelle Joinville and Annabella Vallone from Riverside High School, and Irisneida Villa-Sanchez from Roosevelt High School. These students have achieved academic excellence and display an active role in community service. The Yonkers Chamber of Commerce thanked Committee member Jean Tckell of Rand Realty, who donated one of the $1,000 scholarships.

The Women in Business Committee once again sponsored a cereal drive to support Feeding Westchester, which serves Yonkers with more than 20 agencies being recipients of food distribution. Luncheon attendees donated many needed supplies to this cause.

This November, the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce will distribute Call for Nominations forms for next year’s Women of Excellence honorees for all categories – business professional, entrepreneurial, above and beyond, and the Thomas J. Caramadre Jr. Humanitarian Award. Nominee suggestions are welcomed; contact Jeanne Martinelli at 914-963-0332 for details.
