WOMEN IN STEM FORUM INSPIRES FUTURE INNOVATORS ON NATIONAL STEM DAY

On Sunday, December 7, 2025, the World Mission Society Church of God hosted an empowering forum titled “Women in STEM: Celebrating National STEM Day” to honor the contributions of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for National STEM Day.

The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers: Westchester Legislator, Jewel Williams; AI and Automation Engineer at Red Key Solutions, Sarthak Pattnaik; and Computer Science Professor at Manhattanville University, Dr. Mirela Djordjevic.

More than 60 attendees—students, professionals, and STEM enthusiasts—gathered to explore how women innovators have transformed industries and inspired future generations. Through dynamic presentations and discussions, participants learned about the groundbreaking work of women pioneers and the opportunities ahead for aspiring scientists and engineers. Moreover, they were able to learn about women whose contributions are visible to us every day, including inventions like GPS and windshield wipers—proof that determination and creativity can change the world, and a reminder that each of us has the power to make a lasting impact.

Sarthak Pattnaik captured the spirit of the event during his remarks, stating:

“We need to acknowledge and celebrate pioneering research and contributions to STEM by women across the world. The way to have more women in science and technology is by inspiring them to become curious and interested.”

Brynn Seymour, a member of the Church of God, echoed the same sentiment:

“This Women in STEM event continues the momentum we saw at our Women Judges Forum in March; women stepping forward, leading, and inspiring the next generation. When women are visible in these spaces, it changes what young girls believe they can become.”

The forum sparked ideas, ignited ambition, and empowered the next generation to break barriers and lead innovation in STEM.  To overcome the challenges that remain, Dr. Djordjevic emphasized the power of community, reminding participants that progress is built together. She shared this call to action:

“Share your experience; be there for one another and work together.”

The forum ended with attendees understanding the importance of lifting each other up, sharing knowledge, and daring to dream big. The Church of God hosts forums like this to bring communities together and promote harmony. The members follow the works of God showing love, kindness and equality for the global good.
