WJCS Hosts Passover Luncheon for Holocaust Survivors in Westchester

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) hosted a Passover Luncheon for members of its Holocaust Survivors program at Beth El Synagogue Center In New Rochelle on Wednesday April 3rd. In partnership with UJA-Federation of New York and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, WJCS created a pre-holiday celebration filled with music, delicious food, and many smiling faces. Holocaust survivors attended with family members and caregivers, all of whom delighted in the opportunity to be together.

“WJCS is committed to ensuring that Holocaust survivors in Westchester feel supported, both in practical ways as well as socially and emotionally,” said Allison Danzig, Coordinator of WJCS Holocaust Survivor Services.  “We recognize the importance of Holocaust survivors, who have suffered unimaginable traumas and loss, being together. Providing opportunities for them to chat, laugh, sing, and even dance the hora brings joy and connection.”

“Passover is not just about remembering the past. It’s about how we carry its lessons forward. Holocaust survivors have done that so powerfully,” said WJCS CEO Seth Diamond. “They have rebuilt lives, raised families, and built communities. And they have passed down the stories that must never be forgotten. Our survivors are the living bridge between memory and hope, between history and the future.”

WJCS provides weekly Holocaust survivor groups in which participants discuss current events and their everyday challenges and needs. The not-for-profit agency also organizes social events in which Holocaust survivors  gather as a community to celebrate Jewish holidays and enjoy outings to cultural events, including films, shows, and concerts.”
