Ossining High School graduate, and New York Knick Obi Toppin won the NBA Slam Dunk contest on Feb. 19. “There’s been a lot of legends who have won the dunk contest, so for my name to be a part of that, I don’t take that for granted,” Toppin said. “We wanted to do some dunks that have never been seen before or done at the dunk contest, so for me to win it, I knew I had to come back with my revenge from last year and I’m glad I came out with the ‘W.’ ”

Toppin almost won the dunk contest last year, finishing second. Toppin was born in Brooklyn but moved to Ossining and attended Ossining High School graduating in 2017. He then went to the University of Dayton where he excelled, being named the College Player of the Year for 2019-20.

Toppin was selected with the #8 pick by the New York Knicks in the 2020 draft. Now in his 3rd year, Toppin continues to improve with his home town team, and Westchester says -Congratulations Obi thanks for making us proud!
