The endorsement came during a meeting of the committee on Feb. 18 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown.

Outgoing White Plains Mayor Tom Roach won the committee’s endorsement to run for County Clerk, in the race to succeed longtime County Clerk Tim Idoni who is retiring.

Committee Chair Suzanne Berger said: “Westchester County is a model for New York and the nation of the good things that happen when we elect fiscally strong, socially progressive Democrats. Races in non-presidential years don’t get the press attention they deserve, but they’re crucial. It’s county government that most touches us in our day-to-day lives, and it’s our Democratic slate who will continue Westchester’s progress economically, socially, environmentally, and in public safety. Democrats are ready to work hard and win this November.”
Democrats also voted overwhelmingly to add the Westchester Jewish Democrats to the roster of affinity groups with a voice and vote in the WCDC’s executive committee. Westchester Jewish Democrats join Black Democrats of Westchester, Hispanic Democrats of Westchester, Women Democrats of Westchester, Westchester Young Democrats, Westchester Asian American Democrats and Hudson Valley Stonewall Democrats.
Berger said, “Hearing every voice, reaching out to every community, welcoming, not fearing, our diversity: these are core values of Democrats, and having Westchester Jewish Democrats in our executive discussions will help us put those values into practice.”
