The Westchester County Office of Economic Development and Sustainable Westchester hosted the second Westchester County Clean Energy Job and Resource Fair on November 19. This free event drew more than 325 job seekers to learn about careers in clean energy, connect to skills training programs, and meet with employers specializing in solar, heat pumps, geothermal technology, and more. Attendees also had the opportunity to attend two exciting workshops – a panel discussion called “Jumpstarting Your Clean Energy Career” and a “Conversation with an Expert” featuring Andre Peart, CEO of Untapped Solutions – and connect with a job match specialist.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “The success of the second Clean Energy Job and Resource Fair is a testament to the impressive progress of the clean energy sector in Westchester County. From first-class skills training programs to employers who are experiencing rapid growth, our clean energy economy is thriving and we are delighted to have had so many talented job seekers come out to learn more about opportunities in this exciting field.”

Westchester County Director of Economic Development, Bridget Gibbons, said: “We were impressed by the diversity of the job seekers who came to learn more about clean energy skills training and employment opportunities. From individuals looking to enter the workforce to seasoned professionals interested in transferring their skills to a new industry, the job seekers who joined us were curious, enthusiastic, and ready to engage with the participating employers.”

Sustainable Westchester’s Program Manager, Environmental Justice & Workforce Development, Yasmin Najjar, said: “Climate careers are a fast-growing area of individual opportunity and a critical part of the clean energy transition.  Through our partnership with the Westchester County Office of Economic Development, Sustainable Westchester is connecting employers and job seekers, who are united in their commitment to this vital work.  Together, we can shape a more prosperous, equitable, and healthy region.”
