The Westchester Black Women’s Political Caucus-Yonkers Chapter conducted a Voter Registration and Education pop up event on Saturday, October 3, 2020. The event was held at three locations- Mulford Gardens, YWCA and Shoprite- Greenway Plaza.

Many of the chapter’s members and other community partners came out to encourage residents to get-out-the-vote for this November’s general election. Community partners present were National Association for Advancement of Colored People, National Council of Negro Women and Westchester Women & Girls of Color for Biden-Harris. State Senate Majority Leader, Andrea Stewart-Cousins and 1st District Councilwoman, Shanae Williams were also present.

The highlight of the day was educating the community on the importance of Early Vot-ing and the times and locations of where they can vote. Upon learning they had the option to vote early at the Riverfront Library or the Will Library from October 24th through No-vember 1st; one voter shared how she had planned to be the first to arrive at her polling station on Election Day, on November 3rd.

“The residents were thankful that we came to them. We registered voters who would not have been registered in time to meet the October 9th registration deadline in New York if not for our outreach,” said President of the Westchester Black Women’s Politi-cal Caucus-Yonkers Chapter Beryl Weaver.
