I found this sign interesting, as I traveled from Westchester County to Putnam County. It is obviously meant to feed off the anger that many voters in northern Westchester and Putnam have over crime and inflation. And we have heard this type of call before, throw the bums out!
But what also intrigued me was how republicans attached their political signs to the Re Elect No One sign. Four of the signs featured sitting office holders in Westchester and Putnam. Kevin Byrne is an Assemblyman running for Putnam County Executive unopposed. Matt Slater is the Yorktown Supervisor running for Assembly. Mike Lawler is an Assemblyman running for Congress, and Lee Zeldin is a Congressman running for Governor.
Technically, the sign reads Re Elect No One, and Byrne, Slater, Lawler and Zeldin are not running for re election, they are running for new elected offices.
But I always thought that Throw the Bums Out, did not mean, Re Elect No One, but elect them to another office?
