We Endorse: Robert Prisco for Westchester County Court

Robert Prisco

Westchester Democrats will be voting June 25 for their local and county races, for the first time. So if there is anything that can be learned from this piece, it’s that A Democratic Primary will be held next Tuesday June 25. There is no early voting, that will come in the fall.

All Westchester Democrats can vote in the primary because there is a primary for two seats on the Westchester County Court, in addition to local races in Mt. Vernon, New Rochelle and Yonkers.

Rising Media Group endorses Robert Prisco for Westchester County Court Judge. We are most confident in Prisco’s ability to serve as a fair and impartial judge for all of the people of Westchester who may come before him.

Prisco is the most experienced and well-rounded candidate seeking this position and has led a career that has prepared and qualified him to serve on this important bench effectively and fairly.

Prisco’s experience, as an Assistant District Attorney for 32 years in the Westchester DA’s Office, where he has served and prosecuted thousands of Homicide and violent felony offenses, makes him most suited for the County Court, this time, sitting behind the bench and not before it.

This experience makes him uniquely qualified and gives him a keen insight into the inner workings of this complicated court. Prisco’s experience is our #1 reason for our endorsement, but we also appreciate Prisco’s ability to consider alternatives to incarceration. As a member of the Bail Reform Initiative and the Raise the Age Committee, Prisco views reforms to the Criminal Justice System as long overdue.

Prisco had the endorsement from the Hudson Valley Stonewall Democrats (LGBTQ), and the Hispanic Democrats of Westchester, Westchester Hispanic Law Enforcement Association, Westchester County Probation Officers Association, and has been rated 100% pro-choice by the WCLA – Choice Matters.

We agree with his thought that “criminal convictions have lifelong consequences and, in most instances, treatment and supervision are far more effective against criminal behavior and recidivism than incarceration.” Achieving that balance between compassion and justice is the hardest part of serving as a county court judge, and Prisco, in our view, has led a career demonstrating the ability to master both.

Robert Prisco will be a judge that we can all be proud of, and while we hope to never appear before Judge Prisco, we do believe that he will administer justice in a fair manner.  We endorse Robert Prisco for Westchester County Court on June 25.

Prisco received the endorsement from the Westchester Democratic Party for County Court. Ossining Town Judge Michael Tawil has also been endorsed by county dems and would make another good addition to the County Court.
