Water service has been restored to the Nepperhan Valley section of Yonkers just before 4 p.m. today following repairs to Sunday’s water main break.
The boil water advisory remains in effect through Friday, August 28 as a precaution. Residents should boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking, preparing food, washing dishes by hand or brushing teeth.
“Water is vital to every household and business, and we understand how disruptive an interruption in service can be,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “Thank you to our Department of Public Works, Water and Engineering Departments for working quickly to make these repairs and for distributing water to residents and businesses while service was interrupted.”
Affected areas:
Moquette Row North: 48–63 and 69–84
Nepperhan Avenue: 430, 450, 460, 470, 490, 500, 510, 525, 530, 540 and 578
Bathing, washing clothes and using a dishwasher are safe.
Residents with discolored water should run the cold water until it runs clear and check the water before using it for drinking or cooking.
