A Yorktown charity recently prepared its 30,000th care package for military service members. United for the Troops, a Shrub Oak-based charity that collects food, toiletries, and goods for service members, prepared its 30,000th care package on March 5. Yorktown Supervisor Tom Diana attended the packing session to celebrate the milestone for the group, which was founded in 2008.
“These care packages are tokens of the public’s sincere appreciation for the sacrifices our enlisted members are making to protect our freedom. It was an absolute pleasure to help box and ship these packages to our troops,” said Supervisor Tom Diana, who participated in the packing sessions.
The Town of Yorktown hosts a collection bin for United for the Troops at Town Hall’s lobby. A list of appropriate items that can be donated is posted on the Town’s website.
