Frankie Campana and Georgie (Tom) Sendall, right, recently enjoyed celebrating their 89th birthdays together. Frankie and wife Anna are lifelong residents of Yonkers and have two children, Frank Jr, and Annette. Georgie and wife Kathy live in rural Virginia. Son Andy is in upstate New York; daughter Elizabeth lives in Philadelphia.
Both birthday boys attended School 5 and Roosevelt High School and have since stayed in touch over the years. As youngsters they enjoyed their hobbies and interests. Frankie raised homing pigeons and Georgie rode around on a motorbike he bought from a friend. They were paperboys for both the Herald Statesman and Daily Times as well as working after school for merchants along Lockwood Avenue.
Frankie has enjoyed the game of golf since retirement from Con Edison, while Georgie retired as a correctional officer from the state of Maryland and now collects antique player pianos.
They say that they have “known each other from birth.” Their mothers shared a room in the maternity ward at Yonkers General Hospital the week they were born in 1937, Georgie on the 4th and Frankie on the 7th.
The boys agree that Yonkers must be a healthy place to grow up! They would like to hear from friends at frankieboy107@aol.com or gsendall@yahoo.com.
