Stepinac Track & Field Star from Yonkers to Attend UPENN

With his proud parents beside him, David Davitt announces his UPENN choice

Yonkers resident David Davitt, a much sought- after Stepinac High School student, announced UPENN as his choice to further his academic studies and excel as a track and field athlete. He made the announcement at a press conference this afternoon that was held in the gymnasium at the renowned all-boys Catholic high school in White Plains, NY.

His proud parents were beside him when he made the much-anticipated, decision by slowly removing his Stepinac jacket to reveal the UPENN shirt and holding up the university cap to thunderous cheers of his coaches, classmates, faculty and administration members who gathered in the gym to congratulate him.

He expressed deep appreciation to his parents and the entire Stepinac family for guiding and supporting him as he prepares for his exciting, post-secondary education chapter at UPENN.

A member of Stepinac’s acclaimed Susan and Daniel P. Mahoney Honors Law Academy, Davitt had also narrowed his choices to Princeton and UNC. He also received offers from Cornell, Georgetown, Northeastern, West Point and Manhattan.

Davitt has excelled as a member of Stepinac’s Crusaders varsity track and field team, setting impressive records and winning top honors including:

-Placed 4th in Europe at the European Youth Olympics (seed time would have medaled) 400 hurdles time of 53.02

· Chosen to Team Ireland for European Youth Olympics for 400 hurdles and Medley Relay

· Ranked USA # 9 out of all grades in 500m 2023 time of 1:04.14

· Ranked #1 in the class (2024) in the USA for 500m in 2023.
