St. Joseph’s Medical Center Staff Get Sweet Surprise

The staff at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers get a well deserved Thank You!

The front-line health care staff at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center who are battling the coronavirus pandemic recently received a sweet surprise courtesy of the Junior League of Bronxville, which delivered 32 trays of freshly baked cookies.

“On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to thank the Junior League of Bronxville for their generosity,” said Michael Spicer, president and CEO of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center. “Our staff of health care professional are doing a tremendous job under very difficult conditions to provide vital care for coronavirus patients during this horrible pandemic.”

The Junior League of Bronxville established the Feeding the Frontlines campaign in response to its members’ desire to help respond to the COVID-19 crisis. The campaign is using social media and the power of community connections to raise funds.

“With this funding, we are coordinating with restaurants from Bronxville, Eastchester, Mt. Vernon, Tuckahoe and Yonkers to provide and deliver meals to our caregivers in this same area who are working the frontlines of this pandemic,” said Deirdre Doheny, president of the Junior League of Bronxville. “The response to this campaign has been overwhelming and heartwarming. From hospitals and first responders to pharmacy and grocery store workers, the JLB is truly proud to serve alongside these incredible community members.”

The Junior League of Bronxville is an organization of women from Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe, and Yonkers. It is a group of volunteers who share a common vision of mobilizing women to ignite and inspire community change.

The Junior League of Bronxville donation follows another big surprise donation that the hospital recently received, with the delivery of 20 pizza pies from Bill and Hillary Clinton.
