Spreckman Senior Center Reopens After Completed Improvements

On June 10, city officials cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Bernice Spreckman Community Center located at 777 McLean Avenue. Renovations included men’s and women’s handicap accessible restrooms, new LED ceiling lighting, new handicap accessible water drinking fountains, new exterior metal storefront doors/insulated glass panels with handicap accessible door operators, outdoor exercise equipment and a beautiful pavilion.ADA upgrades along with improved bathrooms, a refurbished entrance, HVAC upgrades and new lobby complete the renovations.

City Councilman John Rubbo said, “Last September, we closed the center for the more than half million dollar renovations. Now it is the nicest center in the city. It was always frequently used but now there are vast improvements to a decades old buidling. I worked hard to get the funding for the improvements and would invite the community to use it more. The outside pavilion, BBQ and picnic area and Bocce court are a great place for the community to use for get togethers in time for the summer season.”
