Senator Shelley Mayer said, “I am very pleased to partner with the United Way of Westchester and Putnam Counties to host my annual Back to School Drive. Every new school year brings countless opportunities and experiences for our students, making it an exciting time for learning and growth. However, many of our neighbors and friends – particularly this year – struggle to afford essential school supplies. If you are able, I encourage you to donate any items you can. I thank United Way of Westchester and Putnam for recognizing this need and co-sponsoring this drive with me to ensure that students and teachers have the resources they need to start the school year. I also thank Tuckahoe Village Hall, Rye City Hall, and Pound Ridge Town House for providing their spaces as drop-off locations. I deeply appreciate the generosity of our community.”

United Way President & CEO, Tom Gabriel, said, “We are honored to once again partner with Senator Mayer and her team to co-sponsor this Back to School Drive. 40% of our neighbors are either living in poverty or paycheck-to-paycheck, and the costs of basic necessities like food, clothing, and utilities keep skyrocketing. This Drive will save hard-working families real money as they get their children ready for school.”

Jessica Orozco Guttlein, Acting Co-President of Hispanic Federation said, “Back-to-school season is a time of excitement and possibility for students across New York State. At the same time, it is also a period when many parents stress about finding essential supplies and ensuring their children are ready for the school year. That’s why Hispanic Federation is proud to work with community members and dedicated leaders like Senator Shelley Mayer to alleviate some of that stress and ensure our children have the essential tools they need to thrive in the classroom. Together, we are addressing long-standing disparities in hopes that students are able to start the school year with dignity, confidence, and opportunity.”
