At a time when access to human services and programs is ever-evolving, smoothing the path for residents to get the help they need quickly is critical. During the 2025 Legislative Session, NY State Senator Shelley B. Mayer earmarked $20,000 for the development of a “human services finder” website by The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe.
Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins facilitated the availability of these funds. The Community Fund’s Executive Director, Shannon McDonough, MLIS who has led digital initiatives for national nonprofits, universities, and global media companies, will oversee the project.
“Despite the fact that so much information is available online, understanding how to access food pantries, physical and mental health services, socially-engaging programming for older adults, or grief and legal support, for instance, can be daunting for individuals, families, and caregivers. This website will guide visitors using plain language and feature welcome messages from some of the professionals they may encounter along the way,” said McDonough. Information will be published in English with featured content also available in Spanish.
