Republicans Pick William Faulkner for Congress, District 16

Somers Trustee to Run Against Winner of Congressman Bowman or County Legislator Gashi Democratic Primary

Somers Councilman Bill Faulkner has been selected by the Westchester and Putnam republican parties to run for Congress in the 16th district. Faulkner, who filed his FEC paperwork on March 4, made his announcement on March 19 in Somers.

Faulkner will face off in November against the winner of the democratic primary to be held in June between Congressman Jamaal Bowman and County Legislator Vedat Gashi. The 16th District now runs from the Bronx to the north including Yorktown, Somers and parts of Putnam County.

Faulkner, who owns his own small business as a flight school operator, ran for Assembly in 2016. Westchester republicans interviewed several candidates before deciding on Fauklner, who is not know in mid-southern Westchester.

Faulkner said he would be running as ” a common sense” candidate to serve the people in Congress. While the 16th District has recently changed, it has been represented by a democrat for 40 years.
