Deborah Jenkins at a recent Puppy Yoga event in Westchester

County Executive Ken Jenkins posted, “My wife Deborah represented us both at this weekend’s puppy yoga event at the Kensico Dam, and came home with nothing but good things to say. Special thanks to our Westchester County Parks staff for putting together such a relaxing and fun community event.”

Puppy yoga is a type of yoga class where participants practice yoga poses while interacting with puppies. The puppies are typically from local shelters or rescue organizations, and the classes aim to provide socialization for the puppies and a fun and relaxing experience for the participants.

The benefits are stress reduction and relaxation, Physical activity and movement, Social interaction and bonding with other participants, and Opportunity to socialize and play with puppies.

The first, Puppy Yoga, was a one-hour yoga class held at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. It featured eight French bulldog puppies freely interacting with participants during the session, followed by a 45-minute play period.

Praised for its physical and mental wellness benefits, the program continues with the next one scheduled for Sept. 22 SOLD OUT. The cost is $50.
