Public Health Initiative Brings Free Breast Cancer Screenings to Yonkers

The Rotary Club of the Hudson Valley and Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center are partnering together to provide screenings via a newly FDA-approved device, iBreastExam, which is non-invasive, portable, and radiation-free. Having this service is extremely timely as approximately 1 in 8 women in this country will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and despite screenings being the best way to identify and treat cancers at their most curable stage, screening rates across the region and country have plummeted, due to COVID-19, leading to higher risk of late-stage cancers.

This new breast cancer screening initiative, which is free for all, kicked off on June 11 at the Yonkers Public Library on 1 Larkin Center – with future dates on: June 11, 25 / July 9, 23 / August 6, 20 / September 10, 24. This quick and painless, breast exam helps discover previously undetected breast lumps and lesions.

Advanced registration for this screening event is required via rotaryhudsonvalley.org.
