Holding signs that read WTF Chuck?, Americans Against Oligarchy, and Impeach Trump-Deport Musk, Indivisible Westchester and several progressive Westchester groups rallied outside of U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer’s peekskill office demanding that he stand up against Trump nominee Russell Vought, stand up for democracy, and fight against the Trump agenda.
“We are facing a crisis and we need all Members of Congress to fight back. Join your friends and neighbors in telling Senator Schumer that we demand they use every tool at their disposal to fight back against the takeover of our government and the federal funding freeze. They must act now to halt the process on the nomination of Russell Vought for OMB Director and use all levers at their disposal to fight the assault on our communities. Deliver your message that you want the Senator to FIGHT the administration every step of the way!” posted one rally group.
Very little media spotlight has been placed on Russell Vought, the author of Project 2025, a Conservate political initiative to reshape the federal government of the United States.Democrats have decried the plan, while republicans claim that President Trump is not using any of its tenents.
Vought has been nominated by Trump to lead the Office of Management & Budget, (OMB). Protestors at the rally urged Schumer to take a tougher stand on against Vought and stop what they claim is Trump and Musk’s unconstitutional power grab.
“As the architect of Project 2025, Russell Vought represents a dangerous shift that threatens our communities, democracy, and vital public service,” wrote Indivisible Westchester in their invite. Additional signs and protests included fighting against Trump and Musk’s changes in the Department of Education.
