Port Chester Man Arrested for Shooting in Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon Police have arrested a Port Chester resident for discharging a firearm on a busy
Mount Vernon Street.

On November 17, 2023, at about 4:00 PM, a Port Chester resident allegedly fired multiple shots
in the area of S 2nd Ave. and W 3rd Street. Multiple Store Fronts in the area were damaged, and no
injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Through investigation, Mount Vernon Detectives in collaboration with the FBI Safe Streets
Taskforce, Westchester County Public Safety RTC and Conditions Units, and Port Chester Police
Department were able to identify the suspect as 19-year-old, Tyshawn Watkins, of Port Chester. Mr.
Watkins was apprehended on Tuesday, November 22, 2023, and was transported to Mount Vernon
Police Headquarters. Mr. Watkins was charged with Attempted Assault 1, Reckless Endangerment 1,
and Criminal Possession of a weapon 2 and arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court.
