Good Samaritan Needed to Post Reward to Get The Vest to the People Who Need it
Last week, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office made a donaton of 400 bullet proof vests to the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America in Manhattan. Days later, the vests were stolen from the building that serves as a warehouse to ship needed items to those fighting Russia.
The NYPD is investigating the incident and released video footage of two men walking out with boxes of the vests. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s office said, “It is despicable that someone would break into a building to steal supplies and materials intended to aid those affected by this humanitarian crisis.”
The thieves drove up to the Second Avenue building in three vans and broke through the front door.
How the crooks knew that there were 400 bullet proof vests waiting for them on the other side of the door in unknown, perhaps it was an inside job of sorts.
Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine has helped raise money to replace the vest on Mighty Cause for all types of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. More than $544,000 has been raised so far.
Others are calling for a reward to be set up so that someone with information can come forward and help make an arrest and get the vests back and over to Poland and then Ukraine.
