Free program coincides with monthly Historical Games
Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site is pleased to host librarians from Yonkers Public Library, Riverfront Branch, for our monthly First Saturday Story Time program. Join us on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. for this free, family-friendly program.
We’ll be reading Hornbooks and Inkwells by Verla Kay, a story of school in the 18th century, and Revolutionary Prudence Wright: Leading the Minute Women in the Fight for Independence by Beth Anderson, based on a true story about a woman who rallies her town in the face of the British. Free! No registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Also on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Philipse Manor Hall will offer Historical Games. How did people entertain themselves in the past? Join us indoors (outdoors, weather-permitting) at Philipse Manor Hall to try your hand at all kinds of historical games. Learn the history behind these games and then learn how to play Quoits, Nine Men’s Morris, Shut the Box, Mancala, Graces, Ninepins, Captain’s Mistress, and more! For children and adults. Free! No registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
